From 24th February to 25th March 2012 everybody can visit the exposition called “Altarpiece in Movement. The Restoration of ‘Jesus del Gran Poder’ Float by IAPH”, at Cajasol Head Office, located in San Francisco Square, Sevilla. This exposition, sponsored by “Jesus del Gran Poder” Brotherhood in collaboration with Cajasol, shows the results of a renovation fulfilled, for the first time with a religious float, from the point of view of critical analysis and science. The works were carried by the Andalusian Institute of Historical Heritage (Department of Culture) from April 2011 to February 2012.
The exposition specially focuses on the legacy values of the piece that have been reinforced and improved in the process of rehabilitation. According to records, “Jesus del Gran Poder” Float is the oldest in Andalusia, which, together with its iconographic and artistic values, its Classical Baroque design, the movement of the sculpture and the base and its surrounding elements, makes of it a highly prized masterwork.
However, it is the value of still being in use after more than 300 years that makes it a living heritage. This has definitely marked the restoration project.
